I got into fitness at a very young age and quickly ran myself into the ground with intense workouts and extreme dieting. In the beginning of my journey, it was all about how I looked. I was obsessed with my physical appearance.

That all came to a crashing halt when I had my two babies in my 30’s. All of the sudden, my body wasn’t performing like it used to.

After my second baby, Ali, I had severe separation of the abdomen (diastasis recti) and found myself with debilitating back pain. It was so bad that I couldn’t even bend over and lift my own baby.

I was determined to get my “body back.” That was a phrase that I would hear moms say all the time and I finally understood what they meant.

My leaking was so bad that any time I would cough, I would leak. I was afraid to get back into the gym to coach others, let alone train myself.

So I started doing all of the conventional methods of trying to fix my pain. I was doing all of the rehab and core training that I was told to do. I spent hours and hours of time and many years making things worse.

What I didn’t know at the time was that everything I was doing was simply putting more pressure on my pelvic floor. Pelvic floor wasn’t even something we were talking about back then but now it makes perfect sense why the pain kept getting worse.

What many people don’t know is that the pain got so bad that I seriously considered quitting fitness altogether.

I’m so glad I didn’t. I kept searching for answers.

Finally, I stopped paying so much attention to all of the conventional methods and began educating myself on the pelvic floor. It took me over 10 years to figure out the root of my issues and develop a system that can do the same for any woman experiencing pain while lifting, leaking, prolapse, lower back pain, pelvic floor spasms, or sciatica. 

Once I figured this out for myself I was so excited to share it with my clients. Many of them said that they wanted to get back to the activities and workouts that brought them so much joy that they couldn’t do anymore.

Why have I not made it to full recovery yet?

 Why have you not made full recovery yet even though you have done multiple treatments and strategies to help yourself heal?

Because you are addressing the problem in an isolated manner, focusing only on the pelvic floor as opposed to the full body. 

It is a known fact that where the pain or symptom is is not where the pain or symptom originated.

Addressing alignment and focusing on your entire body finds the culprits that are stopping you from healing and getting better.

When you only address the isolated area of the symptom you may get temporary relief but what caused the pain is still there so the symptom will most likely return again.

Alignment and strengthening the body to address your tight and weak spots while addressing the entire body is the missing link keeping you in this situation.

Why are kegals NOT the solution for leaking?

Kegels by definition are addressing the pelvic floor by contracting and holding, it is missing the full story of any muscle that is contraction AND release. Contraction and Extension.

All muscles work this way and are the healthiest and most resilient when they are able to function as intended.

If a person has a tight pelvic floor adding only contraction could cause more problems because only contracting a tight muscle will make it weaker.

The key is to allow the breath to softly contract and release with every breath, that would be a functioning core and body that can take care of itself, being symptom free.

What is the job of the pelvic floor?

The job of the pelvic floor is to hold your organs in place, keep you continent (able to control your bladder) and initiate the contraction with each breath. It is what keeps your core working and active so that when you need it to activate and protect you, it is ready to do so.
